For a new employee, those initial few weeks of starting a new job are crucial to how they competently perform and feel socialised within a company.  However, a staggering 50% of newly hired employees plan to leave their jobs within 6 months and that percentage jumps to 80% for those feeling undertrained due to poor onboarding (HBR 2023).
